Cornhole is a backyard game in which players take turns throwing a 6x6 inch cornhole bag at a raised platform, i.e., a regulation cornhole board. Does it seem easy? Well, it can be. But its simplicity belies the skill level and the practice it takes to master this game of throwing bags into the holes on regulation cornhole boards. The cornhole game spells a ton of fun and involves a little bit of cursing and a lot more drinking.

So, does an amateur bean bag tossing player need to practice to get good at the art of dominating cornhole? The answer is a big YES. Only trial and error methods can get you there, but who has enough time to practice cornhole every day? So, we’ve come up with a few tips and tricks to help you get good at this game.

  • Give the cornhole bag a little bit of spin and arc. The spin prevents the cornhole bag from sitting on the platform. It allows the bag to slide directly into the hole. Giving the bag a little bit of arc stops the bag from bouncing off the regulation cornhole board.
  • Gulping down a few glasses of wine or beer works magic for some players. It helps them loosen up a little bit and calms their mind down. However, it’s essential to be reasonable with your level of drinking. What works for others won’t necessarily work for you, too.
  • The way your fingers hug your cornhole bag is very important. Grip the cornhole bag with the middle, ring, and index finger, placing the thumb on the opposite side of the bag. Allow your little finger to hug one corner of the cornhole bag.

Named once the queen of cornhole at American Cornhole Organization (ACO), Stacia Pugh believes in leaving distractions outside the cornhole court. So, stay positive, keep in mind the tips, and start playing cornhole. You can find regulation cornhole boards in many designs for sale online at Cornhole Game.
